Twenty-one year old Chris Hollis from Port Macquarie is the fresh face in the Ballard’s Yamaha Motorex team for 2006 and will compete in the Pro E1 class onboard a Yamaha WR250F.
Team Principal Geoff Ballard predicted an interesting opening round with the new points system presenting some new obstacles.
"The first round is always interesting but this even one more so with the introduction of the new points system,” Ballard said.
"We are fielding a very strong team this year, with Chris Hollis joining us to compete in the E1 class.
"I am really looking forward to seeing how he goes this weekend especially if the track is more suited to the motocross types," Ballard added.
21-year-old Chris Hollis will contest the weekend’s racing aboard the 2006 WR250F, having previously campaigned a YZ250F in the 2005 season.
With strong factory backing from Yamaha, Hollis is optimistic at his chances for success at the round.
"I am riding a WR250F this year and I absolutely love it," Hollis said.
"I have stepped up my training and as well as riding my mountain bike, I have been riding the WR every second day," he said.
"I had my first competitive ride two weeks ago and I was really happy with the way the bike performed." Hollis said.
